We are your 5000+ City of Toronto “outside” employees. You may have seen us in your neighbourhood collecting your garbage, beautifying your parks, servicing your watermains and Green P parking lots, at a Toronto Animal Services centre, in a Toronto Community Housing building, providing medical care on the go, working hard to make Toronto the best it can be. But, do you know what Local 416 is all about?

We believe that through a joint commitment to the principles of respect, value and efficiency, transparency, accountability and modernization we can build a stronger city – together. 4. How can you claim you deliver services more efficiently than the private sector?

We prioritize quality and cost efficiency. The facts speak for themselves. Value can be about more than the price tag. It’s also about the quality of services, ability to adapt to changing conditions and long-term impact on the City and its residents. City employees are able to work with the municipality for the benefit of its residents. We are accountable directly to City Council, not a corporate middleman.
